Sunday Songs

Ladies and Gentlemen!

I am absolutely thrilled to announce Sunday Songs by The Beacon Sound Choir. After hearing Sunday Morning Drones, Alex and Joe from First Terrace Records reached out to me, asking if there was any more recorded material by the choir. So I went through my archives and compiled all the remaining recordings that we made while the choir was going . . . and here we have it, a beautiful 12″ vinyl record of odd choral music from a bunch of folks who used to gather at Beacon Sound on Sunday mornings and sing together.

The recordings I compiled clocked in at around 15 minutes . . . perfect for one side of a 12″ . . . so for the B-side, we enlisted the amazing Rutger Zuydervelt, aka Machinefabriek, to make one long sprawling rework, using the original recordings as source material for his own composition. Rutger made the design for the record as well, using a photograph by Markus Shearer from one of the choir sessions. So many beautiful souls involved in this record!

I could not be more happy with how this project has turned out. A huge thanks to Alex and Joe at First Terrace for making this happen, for turning a casual, community-based project into a wonderful artefact. Thanks also to Infinite Greyscale for releasing the original 10″, Sunday Morning Drones. And of course, to all the singers who showed up at 10:00 on Sunday mornings to sing together!
