East Forest Rework & Recent Appearances

Happy springtime from Ireland! Today marks the release of a rework I made for my friend East Forest. He asked if I’d remix a track from his latest album, so I took his song ‘Patience’, stripped away all the music underneath his voice, and created an entirely new composition underneath his original vocal, using many layers of my own voice. Available now wherever you get your music.

Also, here are three recently released albums by wonderful Irish artists featuring guest appearances by yours truly:

Villagers – That Golden Time: It was a great honor to contribute strings to the latest sonic creation of the amazing Conor O’Brien. I first got to know his music when we shared the stage a festival a couple years back, where I was totally captivated and blown away by his set. Since then, I’ve had the great privilege of getting to know Conor a bit. He was very kind to be a guest on the ONE SONG podcast (perhaps my favorite episode of the series), and I was delighted when he invited me to record some violin for the new Villagers album.

David Hedderman – Pulling At The Briars: This album by Berlin-based Irish arist David Hedderman was an absolute joy to be a part of. Produced by the incredible Conor O’Brien (mentioned above), we had a blast working together in a little studio in Stoneybatter, Dublin. David and Conor played in a band called The Immediate many years ago, after which David moved to Berlin where his primary focus has been visual art, and so when he returned to music with this batch of songs, I think he did so a purity of heart which is quite cearly palpable. I played violin on a good handful of tracks and also let out a shout on one song. Highly recommended listening!

David Murphy – Cuimhne Ghlinn (Explorations in Irish Music for Pedal Steel Guitar): This is a beautiful, serene album centered around David Murphy’s pedal steel playing, and I had the great pleasure of contributing a string arrangement for the song ‘Eleanor Plunkett’.
