I was asked by family to play violin at my grandmother Mimi’s memorial service. I wrote this piece for the beloved matriarch of our family. To my great surprise, when cousin John Doran heard it at the memorial, he was inspired to write organ accompaniment. Meanwhile, another great Mimi passed away around the same time — the angel voice Mimi Parker of the band Low. I learned the Low song ‘Laser Beam’, and my sister Heather Woods Broderick was kind enough to sing harmony. With these two songs I bow in tribute to the great lost Mimi’s of this world.
